IDEO - Define Your Indicators

Indicators help us track our impact over time by defining the data we collect. This exercise, derived from the LUMA collection, focuses on creating those indicators.

Participants will define measurable indicators. They'll also create tracking systems and accountability measures. This ensures alignment with funder requirements.
Participants will leave with defined success indicators. They'll also have clear measurement criteria and a foundation for evaluation.
Include both quantitative and qualitative indicators. User stories are powerful. Keep the number of indicators manageable. Too many can be overwhelming.
To gauge an intervention's effectiveness, measure progress over time. Indicators define the data points you'll track. These can be quantitative or qualitative, depending on what you're measuring. Use a mix of indicators that measure implementation and progress towards short, medium, and long-term outcomes.

  1. Use your existing Logic Model as a blueprint for defining indicators. What do you need to learn or prove about this solution?

  2. First, define Process Indicators. These answer, "Is my solution being implemented as planned?" These measure Inputs and Outputs in your Logic Model.
