A completed offering map, a visualized product/service offering, and a foundation for strategic planning.
Include both formal and informal offerings. Prioritize the customer's perspective on value. Look for hidden dependencies. Base analysis on data, not just assumptions. Consider the lifecycle stage of each offering. Think about portfolio balance and risk. Plan transitions carefully; it's easy to disrupt things. Update the map regularly as the portfolio changes.

  1. Inventory current offerings: core products, services, digital offerings, and partner offerings.

  2. Categorize offerings by customer segments, value propositions, revenue models, and implementation complexity.

  3. Map relationships and dependencies between offerings.

  4. Identify gaps where customer needs are unmet.

  5. Highlight overlaps and redundancies in the portfolio.

  6. Analyze the performance of each offering.

  7. Plan portfolio optimization strategies.

  8. Design new offerings to fill identified gaps.

  9. Consider sunsetting underperforming offerings.

  10. Create a roadmap for portfolio evolution.
