The goals are to surface accurate themes, elevate lived expertise, validate findings with the community, and identify novel insights.
Participants will create a collaborative synthesis output, develop a shared understanding, and align on team insights.
Treat participants as experts and advisors. Their lived experience is invaluable for interpreting research findings accurately. Don't be afraid to adjust the questions based on group feedback.
Inviting stakeholders into the research synthesis process helps surface key themes and identify critical insights. Community co-designers bring valuable perspectives.

  1. Start with download sessions involving those who conducted interviews or gathered data.

  2. Synthesize the download session data (alone or with a teammate) to create a draft of themes.

  3. Gather your wider stakeholder or co-designer group to build upon this synthesis. Treat participants as advisors and experts.

  4. Consider questions like:

Do these themes resonate? What about the language used?
Do the themes accurately reflect what you shared?
