LUMA - Build Your Own

Building things makes abstract ideas real. Participants create physical models of concepts using simple materials. As they build, they explain their thinking. This reveals hidden assumptions, sparks rich discussions, and makes ideas tangible. It's also a highly engaging and fun way to collaborate.

Participants will:

  • Make abstract ideas tangible.

  • Reveal hidden assumptions.

  • Engage in collaborative discussions.

  • Test and refine concepts.

  • Build shared understanding.

  • Tangible prototypes of ideal solutions.

  • Clear insights into desired customizations.

  • Shared understanding of preferred feature combinations.

Encourage teams to think creatively and outside the box. Ask open-ended questions to probe their thinking. Keep the focus on understanding the meaning behind the models, not just the aesthetics. Remember to capture key insights and decisions. I've found that sometimes teams get bogged down in the details of the build. Remind them of the bigger picture.

  6. Ask teams to explain their design choices and rationale.

  7. Have each team share their creation with the larger group.

  8. Facilitate a discussion to extract key insights.

  9. Document the learnings and key takeaways.
