Team 2012
Business Model You
The nine boxes turned on a person: your skills as key resources, your career as the business model.
What it is
The personal version of the Business Model Canvas: you are the key resource, the people you help are the customer segments, and what you get back (salary, satisfaction, growth) sits where revenue used to. It turns a career conversation into a design session.
Reach for it when
- A coaching or career-development workshop needs structure that isn't a personality quiz
- Someone senior is renegotiating their role and can't see their own value clearly
- A team wants to map who provides what before a reorganization
Running it
- Draw the canvas and fill "key resources" first: what you know, can do, and own.
- Name who you help and what they get. Most people discover they serve more segments than their job title admits.
- Fill costs honestly: time, energy, stress, what you give up.
- Redesign one box. Not the whole model; one deliberate change to test in the next month.
Watch out: In group settings this gets personal fast. Pairs beat plenary for the sharing step.

This workshop was incredibly effective for our remote team! We adapted it slightly for a virtual setting and it worked wonderfully. The key was breaking into smaller breakout rooms.
Great resource! One tip: prepare all materials the day before to avoid any last-minute rushes.
Used this for our quarterly planning session. The structured approach really helped us stay on track!
