Project 2014
Project Canvas (DTU)
Twelve blocks that give a project team one shared picture: purpose to milestones on a single page.
What it is
Twelve building blocks covering the questions every project answers eventually, ideally early: purpose, scope, success criteria, outcome, team, stakeholders, users, resources, constraints, risks, milestones, actions. Built for the kickoff conversation, not the steering-committee binder.
Reach for it when
- A kickoff where half the room learned the project name that morning
- A project brief that runs nine pages and still doesn't say what done means
- A student or volunteer team that needs structure without process weight
Running it
- Fill purpose, scope, and success criteria as a group before anything else. 30 minutes, most of the arguing.
- Divide the remaining blocks into pairs and fill them in parallel, then present back.
- Read the whole canvas aloud once. Contradictions between blocks surface immediately.
- Revisit at each milestone; the canvas is the status page.
Watch out: Twelve blocks invite skimming. The three up front carry the value; don't let the room rush to milestones.

This workshop was incredibly effective for our remote team! We adapted it slightly for a virtual setting and it worked wonderfully. The key was breaking into smaller breakout rooms.
Great resource! One tip: prepare all materials the day before to avoid any last-minute rushes.
Used this for our quarterly planning session. The structured approach really helped us stay on track!
